The London Agreement was concluded between the member states of the European Patent Office in October 2000. This agreement allows any patents submitted in English, German, or French, to be valid throughout Europe.
In 2000, 7% of all patents submitted in Europe were in French, 18% in German, and 80% in English.

Patents for inventions have a particular style and must contain certain specific information; this is why it is best to have them translated by an expert in the field.
